Waking Up Early to Be Late

My alarm is set to go off at 6 am every day.

Some days, my body has different plans. Today was one of those days. I was wide awake at 3:54 am for no reason though I had nowhere to go, nothing to do, and no good reason to be up that early.

It was a golden opportunity. That book I’ve been meaning to finish up could be read. I could start my exercise routine earlier. I even had enough spare time to properly steep my burdock tea (it takes 15 minutes to steep :/).

But guess what I did?

I read about Keanu Reeves (did you know that he went by K.C. Reeves his first few months in Hollywood?) and Brandy (trying to be perfect is hard, thankfully she had her daughter Sy’rai). I reveled in highlights from the big Lakers win last night (LeBron is unstoppable in black jerseys). As I was pursuing the web, I ran across an in-depth breakdown of the second episode of Lovecraft Country (yes, you should be watching this show). From checking Twitter, I saw that Big Sean dropped a new track featuring Nipsey Hussle called Deep Reverence. This led to a binge on other Nipsey features which somehow ended with me listening to the new The Wailers album - One World.

Then of course at exactly 5:43 am I started feeling sleepy.

I caved and made THE worst mistake possible. “Just rest your eyes for 10 minutes,” I said… Worst advice ever.

After several snoozes, I rolled out of bed at 7 am, an hour later than my desired start time.

I woke up early to be late, smh.
