Friday's Too Good Not to Share: 2.25.22

Russia... WTF bro?

Every Friday, I share other great content (with some added context) to dive into over the weekend. These could be articles, podcasts, videos, Twitter threads, or other great newsletters.

In short, these are the most interesting of the interesting stuff I've come across.

Here's What Will Happen To Ukraine

I've been looking at materials to help me better understand the end game here between Russia and Ukraine. This was the best video I found on it and the situation on the ground playing out pretty much like what is noted.

Russia is doing a blitzkrieg to try to seize as much territory as possible to before help arises and sanctions start to impact them. Will Ukraine be able to successfully defend itself? We'll see, but let's hope they can get some tactical wins soon.

Exposure therapy

Here's a great technique to help you overcome your fears. Note: This was taken directly from the The Study Newsletter.

What often prevents us from pursuing a particular project/goal/task is fear. Fear of failing. Fear of looking like a newbie. Fear of being socially mocked.

What you can do to prevent fear?

Exposure therapy.

As the title suggests. You expose yourself to the task you are afraid to progressively transcend fear.

For instance, if you are afraid of public speaking. You can follow this path:

  1. Think about speaking in public.
  2. Write about speaking in public - how would you feel, before, during, and after the event.
  3. Attend a seminar where people are speaking in public - OK, probably wait until the pandemic is finally over.
  4. Get on stage during the break of the seminar just to get a feeling of the stage and see the view.
  5. Register for a panel where several people are discussing something in front of an audience (where you are not the only one on stage).
  6. Give an online presentation all by yourself.
  7. Give a live presentation all by yourself.

Each step will slowly help you build the inner strength you need to overcome the fear of speaking in front of a crowd.

Leave today better than yesterday ✌️.
