Every Friday, I share other great content (with some added context) to dive into over the weekend.

There are still no definitive results of the current election, but we do see a path forward toward a conclusion. It’s 4th and inches and we’re on the goal line.

Today, I’m keeping it positive to keep our spirits lifted.


Baltimore Elects Democrat Brandon Scott As Its Youngest Mayor Ever

Meet Brandon Scott, the new 36 year old mayor of Baltimore. He comes in on the heels of a scandal for his predecessor but I think he’s up for the job.

Remember his name, I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot more from him in the future.

This national org aims to grow the number of Black VCs. Now it has a Baltimore-DC chapter

Last week I found myself on a call with a group of people that collectively have about $500 million in assets under management. A really big number but just a fraction of the $100 billion currently managed in this industry. We want to change that. Baltimore-DC now has the newest chapter of BLCK VC, an organization that aims to push the number of Black investors from 2% to 4% of the venture industry by 2024.
