Duane’s Guide To The Perfect Head Shave
Going bald? No need to fret, I got you.
Here's my guide on how to shave your head with a razor.
This tried and true method has been honed by me over the last 17 years. I've made the mistakes already so that you don't have to. This is my gift to mankind as they enter into the oldest fraternity in the world - The Royal Order of the Polished Domes.
Using this guide will have you looking smoother than a new cue ball and have you feeling more aerodynamic than ever after your shave.

THE ARSENAL: YOUR ESSENTIAL TOOLS
PHASE 1: THE PREPARATION (LATHER UP)
Proper preparation is 90% of a successful shave.
- Soften: Ideally, shave immediately after a hot shower. If not, hold a hot, damp towel to your scalp for 3 full minutes.
- Lather: Wet your shaving brush. Apply a dime-sized amount of Bump Patrol Gel.
- Massage: Use firm, circular motions with the brush to coat the entire scalp. This lifts the hair and exfoliates the skin.
PHASE 2: THE FIRST PASS (WITH THE GRAIN)
Goal: Remove bulk hair safely using "Down & Forward" strokes.
- Top: Shave from the crown toward your forehead.
- Sides: Shave straight down toward your ears.
- Back: Shave straight down toward your neck.
- ⚠️ PRO TIP: Use short strokes (2-3 inches). Rinse your razor every 2-4 strokes. NEVER wipe the blades on a towel—it dulls the razor.
PHASE 3: THE CROSS-SHAVE (THE SMOOTH FINISH)
Goal: That "smooth as glass" feeling.
- Do Not Re-Gel: Simply splash warm water on your head to reactivate the existing gel.
- The Technique:
- Top: Shave horizontally (Left to Right).
- Sides: Shave forward (toward your face).
- Back: Shave horizontally (Ear to Ear).
PHASE 4: POST-SHAVE PROTECTION
Do not skip these steps if you want to remain bump-free.
- Rinse & Dry: Rinse with warm water. Pat dry gently with a clean towel; do not rub.
- Treat: Apply Bump Patrol Aftershave Serum to all shaved areas.
- Tone: Apply Witch Hazel to soothe any lingering sensitivity.
- Hydrate: Finish with Kiehl’s Moisturizer. If you are going outside, ensure it has SPF to protect your fresh scalp.
Consistency is key. Shave every other day for best results.
