Another Year Around the Sun

There’s a quote that’s been sitting with me lately:

“In order to thrive in the long term, you have to survive the short term.”

It’s simple, true and the most honest birthday reflection I can offer.

Some seasons really are about survival. Survival through uncertainty. Through transition. Through the awkward middle between who you were and who you’re becoming. You survive the setbacks, the rejection, the silent prayers no one knows you’ve whispered. The stuff that doesn’t make it into the highlight reel. The days when you’re not growing, you're just enduring.

But if you keep going—if you stay in it long enough—something beautiful happens:
You outgrow the pain.
You develop new instincts.
You stop getting stuck by the same old traps.
And eventually, you thrive.

What’s made this journey so rich is that I haven’t had to go it alone. I’ve had a whole tribe in the trenches with me. Some have coached me, some have checked me, and others just simply believed in me.

I’m thankful for every single person who’s held space for my growth, who challenged me with love, and who stayed patient as I've made shifts.

And I’m equally inspired by those around me. People building companies, raising families, transforming their bodies, leading movements, and leading themselves. Your excellence has quietly demanded more of me. You’ve shown me what’s possible. And I’m better for it.

So what’s next?

Accountability.

Not the buzzword kind. The real kind—the kind that shows up when no one’s watching. I have big dreams. Huge, even. But dreams only matter if they show up in my habits. So this year, I’m raising the standard and will focus on executing relentlessly. Not to impress anyone—but to keep the promises I’ve made to myself and turn them into my lived reality.

I don’t want to just do things.

I want to finish.

To complete the stories, the projects, the visions that have been simmering long enough. It'll take focus, effort, execution, and a little joy to make it happen.

I want to honor the gifts I’ve been given to me and the trust that's been placed in me by so many of you.

So thank you—for every birthday wish, every message, every bit of love you’ve sent my way. It means more than you know.

I’m grateful we’re sharing this space in time together. And my hope is that in some way, big or small, I can help add a little more peace of mind, purpose, progress, and joy to your days.

That’s what another year around the sun feels like for me today.

And it feels beautiful.
