Monday Motivation: 1.9.23

Ideas are born from experiences.

If you want better ideas, vary your experiences. When our experiences are narrow or routine, our ideas become stale and obvious.

There are many ways to vary your experiences, but the technique I use most is adjacency.

This is when you do something new that is related to what you already like to do, but slightly different. For example, if you like to watch movies, go see a live play instead. If you like music, watch a video about how some of your favorite songs came to be.

Switching the modality of your preferred experiences is a great way to inspire new ways of thinking.

Let's crank out some good ideas week!
