Narratives
Everyone loves a good story.
The Lakers are the 2020 NBA Champions. Well deserved. Well earned.
But that is not the story of the night. Here are the 10 takeaways now that this NBA season is over.
Tragedy fueled this championship. The world misses Kobe is this was a helluva way to pay homage to him. This ring will always be known as the Kobe/Gianna ring.
LeBron gets is 4th Finals MVP and 4th ring in his 17th season. The #WashedKing wants his respect. It is well deserved. He showed up big this whole playoffs and was a monster in the Finals. He’s still the best player (and most athletic) in the world.
Jimmy Butler may be John Wick. There’s no quit in him and his belief in himself is unmatched. The only thing that stopped him this Finals was conditioning. He left it all on the court in Game 5 and the difference was that LeBron still had more left in the tank for Game 6.
AD got his first ring. He always had the talent but it was on full display in these playoffs of what a difference maker he is, especially on the defensive side of the ball. Him and LeBron put the league on notice.
Order came from chaos. Magic Johnson famously left the Lakers organization abruptly last season and trashed the rest of the front office. It was an ugly and really unprofessional way to leave a team. Rob Pelinka and his team regrouped. The best revenge is a job well done.
Adam Silver for President. Pulling off the NBA bubble with 0 COVID cases for players is one of the greatest business stories in American history. I cannot wait to read the deep dive into how this all went down. The world must remember that the NBA was the leader here in addressing the pandemic and was flying blind due to lack of leadership in our current government. He also managed to blend the social justice mission with sports. This is what happens when you work together as a team.
Jamal Murray.
Jamal Murray, reloaded.
Playoff Rondo. Here’s a great story. Rondo won rings with both the Celtics and Lakers, the NBA’s two most iconic franchises. He also has helped both teams raise banner number 17. Much respect.
Skip Bayless, Rob Parker, and Jason Whitlock are going to have the worst day ever at work tomorrow. They consistently try to slander LeBron whenever they are given the opportunity (just overall miserable people). Nick Wright, Kendrick Perkins, and Shannon Sharpe probably didn’t sleep last night thinking of all the ways they are going to crown LeBron James the GOAT. It’s going to be a fun day for sports shows.
We are all witnesses. #StriveForGreatness🚀
