The Rise and Rise of Amanda Gorman

A beautiful article about the rising icon that is Amanda Gorman, best known for her poem “The Hill We Climb” at President Biden’s inauguration.

There’s power in words. She even speaks power into her morning.

On his nighttime news digest, Anderson Cooper 360, Cooper asked Gorman to repeat the rhyming mantra she recites before she steps onstage: “I am the daughter of Black writers who are descended from Freedom Fighters who broke their chains and changed the world. They call me.” Cooper visibly reddened at her recitation, his composure utterly destroyed. “Wow,” he almost babbled. “You’re awesome.”
